About the Khan
The name “Khan” perfectly describes the architecture of the place: a square building composed of housing units, connected by a beautiful inner courtyard that goes hand in hand with the grandeur and rank that Safed’s rich history represents. It symbolizes a dynamic economic activity, while at the time the Khans were used by travelers and merchants. Adopted after the period of Ottoman rule in the country, this name has become very local to Safed, and thus describes hotels with an inner courtyard (there are several Khans in Safed: the Blue Khan, the Red Khan, the White Donkey Khan). These “caravanserais” historically describe the tourist character of Safed, once a crossroads between the world of trade and capital and the Jewish spirituality and mysticism of today! This magical place allows us to be one of the largest tourist event complexes in the city.
When we renovated this ruined place in 2020, it already had a unique atmosphere, a setting that we had to preserve and enhance. We decided to preserve the marriage of old stones with solid wood, cleverly structured, all to serve the needs of prestigious guest rooms. Down to the smallest details of the lighting, both intimate and warm, everything has been thought out to restore the spirit of ancient buildings! A stay in the Khan Spirit of Tzfat will not leave you indifferent and will mark the spirits of all your loved ones, a wonderful setting as a magical gift!
